Song Hwee was appointed Chairman of True Light Capital with effect from 1 April 2021. He is also the Chairperson of True Light Capital’s Investment Committee.

Song Hwee is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Temasek. He has held various leadership roles in Temasek, including President and Chief Operating Officer, as well as Head of the Investment, Credit Portfolio, and Strategy Groups. He has also led the Temasek market teams in Singapore and China.

In February 2021, he was appointed to the board of A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research). Song Hwee also serves as a member of Singapore’s Advisory Council on the Ethical Use of AI and Data, established by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) since 2018.

Prior to joining Temasek in 2011, Song Hwee was the Chief Operating Officer at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. Before the integration of GLOBALFOUNDRIES and Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd (Chartered), he served as Director of the Board, and President and CEO of Chartered from 2002 to 2009. Song Hwee also held various management positions at Chartered, including Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Administrative Officer.

Prior to Chartered, Song Hwee was Regional Controller for Asia, Australia, and the Middle East for the drilling group of Schlumberger, a global oilfield services group.

Song Hwee holds a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) degree with distinction from Edith Cowan University, Australia, and is a member of CPA Australia. He was honoured with the EE Times Annual Creativity in Electronics Award for Executive of the Year in 2007.

Yibing is a director of True Light Capital and member of the Investment Committee.

Yibing joined Temasek in October 2013. He is Temasek’s President, China; Joint Head of Technology & Consumer; and Head of Enterprise Development Group (China). Yibing previously served as Joint Head of Portfolio Strategy & Risk Group. 

Prior to Temasek, Yibing was President of CITIC Private Equity Funds Management, and concurrently served as Chairman and CEO of Goldstone Investment Co. Ltd., the direct investment arm of CITIC Securities. He has over 27 years of investment and management experience and held various senior management positions in major firms including McKinsey & Co, Lenovo Group, and Legend Holdings.

Since Nov 2019, Yibing has been a Board Member of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliances, and he also serves on the board of the China Social Entrepreneur Foundation. 

Yibing holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Biochemistry from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc.) in Molecular Biology from University of Science and Technology of China.

Dr Chia was the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at GIC, a position he held until his retirement in March 2020. As CRO, Dr Chia was responsible for the risk management oversight for GIC group.

Dr Chia holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from The University of Adelaide and a PhD in Economics from the Australian National University. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme of Harvard Business School.

Nels was appointed to the Board of Directors of True Light Capital in November 2022. He is also a member of True Light Capital’s Investment Committee.

Nels retired from Singapore Exchange Limited, where he was Head of Securities and then an Advisor. He was formerly the Managing Director & Head of Equities (ASEAN) with Citigroup Global Markets, where he had responsibilities for all cash, derivatives, equity capital markets and prime brokerage activities in the ASEAN countries. Nels was earlier with CLSA, where his last role was Managing Director, Singapore/Malaysia. Prior to CLSA, he spent 11 years as a management consultant.

Nels is or has been on the Investment Committees for various entities including the Singapore Tote Board, SUTD Venture Fund, and Bulldog Innovation Fund as well as the Listing Committee for ADDX. He also sits on the board of Fullerton Fund Management, where he chaired the Audit and Risk Committee for ten years.

In addition to working with several startups, he sits on the SUTD Finance Committee and advises Calm Collective, a social enterprise focused on mental health awareness.

Nels holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Yale University, USA. He has been a Singapore permanent resident since 1989.

Gordon sits on the board of True Light Capital and chairs the True Light Capital Audit Committee. He has over 20 years of experience as an advisor to leading Chinese and International businesses.

Gordon is a Non-Executive Director of Swire Pacific, Meituan, Lenovo and EQT. Gordon Orr is also Vice Chair of the China Britain Business Council.  Beyond these formal roles, he provides counsel to a small number of China-focused entrepreneurs.

Gordon began his career at McKinsey. He moved to Hong Kong in 1993 and to Beijing a year later, opening McKinsey’s practice in China.  Gordon led McKinsey’s Greater China practice for many years and was Chairman of McKinsey Asia from 2009 to 2014.  Gordon was on McKinsey’s global board of directors from 2003 to 2015 with responsibilities for Asia, Governance and Risk.

Mr Jimmy Phoon is the Executive Director and CEO of Seviora Holdings, and the CEO of Seviora Capital. He was formerly the CEO of SeaTown Holdings International from 2010 to 2020.

Before SeaTown, Jimmy was the Senior Managing Director, Head of Strategy at Temasek Holdings.

Prior to joining Temasek in 1999, Jimmy was with Standard Chartered Merchant Bank Asia Limited (“SCMBA”). In his eight years with SCMBA, he managed several initial public offerings, public takeovers, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate restructurings.

From 1988 to 1992, Jimmy was a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Finance of Singapore, where he was responsible for the formulation of corporate and international tax policies.

Jimmy is a director of the Health Sciences Authority, and a member of Board of Trustees of Nanyang Technological University.

Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honors) degree from Monash University, Australia.

Chee Kian has over 20 years of banking and financial services experience across different markets, including 10 years with Temasek in Singapore.

His experience in investments and portfolio management cuts across asset classes and investment stages, and he has had regular involvement with investments in China since 2005. In his role prior to True Light Capital, Chee Kian was Managing Partner of a country-focused private equity fund in Southeast Asia.

Chee Kian holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
