Chee Kian has over 20 years of banking and financial services experience across different markets, including 10 years with Temasek in Singapore.

His experience in investments and portfolio management cuts across asset classes and investment stages, and he has had regular involvement with investments in China since 2005. In his role prior to True Light Capital, Chee Kian was Managing Partner of a country-focused private equity fund in Southeast Asia.

Chee Kian holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Serene oversees the compliance, legal, finance and operations functions. She has more than 20 years of post-qualification experience practicing law, both in private practice and in-house.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, Serene’s professional experience spans over 14 years at Temasek International’s Legal & Regulatory team. During her tenure with Temasek, Serene led the North Asia legal team and was the co-lead of the Southeast Asia legal team. She also led the legal team for the Temasek Bond Issuance Programme since 2018 and was involved in Temasek’s first Retail Bond Issuance and its first Triple Tranche USD Bond Issuance.

Serene graduated from the National University of Singapore with Bachelor of Laws (Second-Upper) in 1996 and obtained her Singapore bar qualifications in 1997. She also obtained an LL.M (Merit) from King’s College London in 2000.

Cheryl is responsible for Investments at True Light Capital.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, Cheryl has over 10 years of experience with Temasek, focusing on investments in the consumer sector globally. Cheryl also has more than 7 years of experience in M&A advisory and diligence.

Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University.

Chay Hoon oversees Finance operations at True Light Capital.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, she was Deputy Asia Controller with a global investment management firm covering financial and management reporting for Asia. Before that, she was Vice President with a sovereign wealth fund and was involved in various finance roles, including supporting new business initiatives and transformation projects.

Chay Hoon holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. She is also a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

JingJing is responsible for Investor Relations, ESG & Analytics.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, JingJing’s career spanned more than 15 years at Temasek International’s Investment Group and Investment Services. JingJing has experience investing across industry sectors and asset classes, with a focus on private equity fund investing. During her tenure at Temasek’s Investment Services, JingJing led the delivery of several middle and back-office initiatives, including a private equity fund and co-investment data analytics platform. 

JingJing holds a Master of Management from The Australian National University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (with Honours) from the National University of Singapore.

Kin Seng has over 13 years of combined experience in audit and corporate accounting.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, Kin Seng was a Finance Manager with a foreign exchange and stock brokerage. Before that, he was a Senior Audit Manager at one of the Big Four accounting firms and led audits of various companies including companies listed on the Singapore stock exchange.

Kin Seng holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Singapore Management University. He is also a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

Bennett has over 10 years of experience where he spent the last 7 years focusing on compliance monitoring and regulatory reporting in asset management companies.

Prior to True Light Capital, Bennett was Compliance Manager at Stern Capital and Senior Compliance Officer at St James’s Place (Singapore), overseeing the implementation of the respective firms’ compliance programme then, as newly granted CMS licensees for Fund Management with the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Bennett is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) by Global Association of Risk Professionals and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from University of London.

Ming Sheng joined True Light Capital in June 2021.

Prior to joining True Light, he was an investment banking analyst in Greenhill & Co., where he was involved in M&A transactions across Asia Pacific.

Ming Sheng graduated with a BBM (Summa Cum Laude) from the Singapore Management University.

Yi Kuang covers Investor Relations, ESG & Analytics.

Yi Kuang is a finance professional with 10 years of experience. Prior to joining True Light Capital, Yi Kuang was with a China and Southeast Asia-focused private equity firm, focusing on investor relations and operations. Yi Kuang started his career at KPMG as an auditor, having worked in its London and Singapore offices.

Yi Kuang is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and a Chartered Accountant of Singapore. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Steven joined True Light Capital in March 2023. He has over 7 years of experience in private and public market investments in China.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, Steven was a VP at General Atlantic focusing on China growth equity investments in industrial tech, TMT and consumer sectors. Before that, he was a generalist at Temasek Shanghai office, covering investment opportunities in China.

Steven holds a Master's degree in Finance and a Bachelor's degree in Math from Peking University.

Hey Herng has over 10 years of experience in valuation, financial due diligence and financial reporting.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, she was an Associate Director at one of the Big Four accounting firms. Her key focus included valuation for M&A, financial reporting and tax purposes, as well as post-acquisition services.

Hey Herng holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University. She is also a Chartered Valuer & Appraiser with the Institute of Valuers and Appraisers, Singapore (IVAS), and a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

Shirley joined True Light Capital in October 2022. She has over 7 years of experience in investment and banking industries. Prior to joining True Light Capital, Shirley worked at Trustbridge Partners in China focusing on China growth equity investments in TMT and Consumer sectors. Before that, she worked in the investment banking division at Credit Suisse Hong Kong, covering equity market transactions for TMT companies.

Shirley holds a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Peking University.

Julia has over 9 years of combined experience in private practice and in-house roles.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, Julia covered minority investments and M&A transactions at CVC. She started her career at a top-tier PRC law firm where her practice focused on private equity investment, M&A, capital markets and general corporate matters.

Julia graduated from Fudan University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2011 and she obtained an LL.M from New York University in 2013.

Marcus has over 4 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, Marcus was an auditor at one of the Big Four accounting firms where he covered audits of various companies including venture capital fund, unit trust, REIT listed on Singapore Stock Exchange and technology company listed on New York Stock Exchange.

Marcus holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Accounting and Finance from University of London. He is also a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

Amber covers Investor Relations, ESG & Analytics.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, Amber worked at a venture capital firm investing across the United States, Europe and Asia. She led investor relations operations and initiatives for a diverse investor base ranging from family offices to corporate investors.

Amber is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Business (Honours).
 

Nina joined True Light Capital as an Investment Associate. Prior to joining the firm, Nina was an Investment Analyst at BPEA EQT. 

Nina holds a Master's degree in Finance from Peking University and a Bachelor's degree in Financial Management from Fudan University.

Wendy is the Office Manager at True Light Capital.

Prior to joining True Light Capital, she was an Executive Assistant, adeptly providing support to multiple partners at Ernst and Young, a multinational professional services partnership.

Before that, Wendy served as a Legal Secretary and performed administrative duties for many years.
